A CASE STUDY OF EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE
ABSTRACT

The project gives a summary of the entire research study, which was designed to find out the causes of pollution and its effects on man and its environment. 300 persons were used as subject of this study. This attempt to find out various causes of pollution and its effects on man shows that man himself is the sole contributor to the pollution of his own environment. The data collected and analyzed revealed that pollution has affected man in so many ways and has even led to his death and distortion of his environment. Based on these findings from the analyzed data, recommendations were made which the researcher hopes would help in giving government and the public better means for preventing pollution especially in Egor local government area of Edo State.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
As a result of the continued industrialization of our society and continuous movement from rural areas to urban areas, there have been the continual references o factors, which affect our environment of which one of them is pollution. The rapid development of technology and population growth are over powering man’s ability to preserve or protect the environment suitable for his survival examples, towns like port Harcourt associated with crude oil and Aba, a market town cannot be free from pollution.
In an industrialized society, manufactured chemical are used, more and more factories produced large amount of waste, which cannot be destroyed by natural process. The waste accumulates in the surroundings leading to damages.
